Hospice Volunteers for Patient Support and Office Assistance

At our hospice, we offer a variety of volunteer opportunities designed to assist patients and their families during challenging times. As a patient volunteer, you will have the opportunity to provide companionship and engage in activities such as reading, playing games, listening to music, and offering emotional support. This distinctive experience greatly benefits those who truly need it the most.

As a patient volunteer, you can expect to provide assistance with the following:

  • Providing companionship and emotional support through human contact

  • Engaging in activities such as reading or watching television with patients

  • Encouraging patients to share memories and stories

  • Assisting with fulfilling a patient's final wish list

  • Assisting with household chores like laundry and cleaning

  • Taking care of pets, such as walking dogs or cleaning litter boxes

  • Helping patients with shopping, bill payment, and sorting mail

  • Giving family members a break by providing respite care

  • Assisting with making final arrangements

  • Providing a listening ear and offering comfort during times of fear and uncertainty.

Individuals who have undergone our comprehensive training and mentoring program are eligible to become patient volunteers.

In addition to our general Patient Support Volunteers, we are also looking for individuals who have specific professional skills, including: pet therapy, reiki, music therapy, cosmetology, etc.

Administrative volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth operational flow. They contribute by handling day-to-day responsibilities, working on distinct assignments, and even overseeing promotional activities and event organization. By generously offering their time and expertise, these volunteers significantly enhance our capacity to offer solace and assistance to those who require it. Areas of the role include:

  • Performing essential clerical duties

  • streamlining marketing management, social media updates, and public relations.

  • Creating helpful information such as patient binders.

  • Maintaining the general upkeep of the office and property.

  • Replying to emails.

  • Planning and coordinating events for the organization.

Corporate volunteers
With support from Houston's thriving business sector, we can accomplish our objective of elevating the living conditions for those receiving hospice care and their families. Businesses have the opportunity to engage employees in diverse activities, including one-time housekeeping duties and safety upgrades, creating handcrafted presents, and even cooking meals for family members. By actively contributing to our cause, companies can genuinely impact the community.
Student volunteers
We offer exciting and diverse student internships in nursing, physician, pharmaceutical, business management, marketing, sales, administrative, finance, medical billing and coding, and event planning. Gain valuable, hands-on experience in end-of-life patient care and support. Plus, pave the way for a rewarding career in healthcare.
Other ways you can help
